Modern forest garden in Velp (Netherlands)
In the summer of 2017 we realized a beautiful villa garden on the edge of nature reserve ‘De Posbank’ in the Netherlands. In a beautiful neighbourhood with mansions and spacious plots, on the edge of the woods surrounding the city of Arnhem, we realized the exterior design of a reconstructed villa. The reconstructed villa is a design of architect Tjeerd Bloothoofd, he gave the villa a total make-over. The result is a modern mansion. A lot of ‘honest’ materials were used, such as glas, concrete, wood and steel. In the design there’s also space for a patio garden. Inspired by the surrounding woodsDuring the design process the home owners called Hendriks Hoveniers to take part in the design of the garden. The house has large glass fronts, making the garden a real experience from inside the house, it’s an extension of the villa. That’s why it’s important that the garden matches the atmosphere of the home. We were immediately inspired by the surrounding woods. We got a lot of ideas about the height differences and the vistas in the adjacent forest during the design process. Stylish gardenOur garden design has ensured that the garden has become sleek and stylish, but also very unique. The garden also requires little maintenance. We created a patio by the kitchen, where the residents can spend their time, especially in the mornings. We also realized a spacious terrace with lounge corner. In the front garden you are welcomed by the spacious path of large format tiles in a trendy cream color. A steel gate and the rust-colored fence, hidden in the beech hedge, keeps Bram the dog at home.Green inspired by the environmentIn terms of green, we used Rhododendron hedges, laurel clouds, grass boxes and flowering hydrangeas, combined with some beautiful multi-stemmed trees. When the green has grown a bit, we will cut the shape into it, which will integrated this garden completely into the neighbourhood. Characteristics of this woodland garden:
- Medium-sized garden
- Architectural
- Low maintenance
- Atmospheric
